Welcome to this site that is primarily covering Swedish speedcams. This page is a very short and simplified English version of this site. Primarily it is intended to be a service to our non-Swedish speaking road travellers. Knowing that we have a lot of English, German, Dutch and French travellers on our roads I figured that there might be an interest in the most accurate Swedish speed camera database. By the cooporation with www.foxytag.com we can now also offer the rest of Europe for the Mio owner. IThe files available here are intended for Mio GPS users (Miomap V3). For other GPS/file formats see "Useful links" below. I do not provide any instructions of how to install these files. There are several excellent sites where you can get detailed "how to" instructions. here is no need for me to repeat those here. You just have to replace your existing file. Usually either by using Mio_transfer_hack or Active Sync. The Swedish speed cameras are of two main types. The most common is the modern, fully automated networked camera able to operate 24/7. From one location in northern Sweden any of the more than 880 cameras can be monitored, switched on and off etc. There is also an older type (grey boxes) there the Police are mounting cameras for shorter intervals. There are about 20 of those still around. They are rarely in use, but not entirely harmless. The new camera network is currently under expansion and the number of cameras will exceed 1000 later this year. Finally, another 30 mobile cameras are currently being delivered. The technology is the same as for the modern cameras on poles, but they are mobile. Bottom line. Check back here regularly to ensure that you have the most accurate speedcam file.
The data is gathered from multiple
sources such as the Swedish road administration, gas companies and
volunteering travellers. Other useful links
GPS - based speed camera warners are legal in Sweden. Radar warning devices are not! The files are for personal use only.
